COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Assured Certificate in Advanced solar and Air-conditioning Programme at Giga Electrical and Engineering Services Assured by City and Guilds will enable participants to demonstrate competencies in installing, maintaining and diagnosing faults on Solar and Air-Conditioning systems with due consideration to safety requirements.

SKILLS

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will:

→ Identify solar and air-conditioning tools, materials and components.
→ Perform task with due consideration to safety rules.
→ Calculate load for solar and air-conditioning systems.
→ Install condenser and evaporator.
→ Install copper tubing for refrigerant.
→ Apply soldering/brazing techniques.
→ Vacuum, charge and pressure test systems.
→ Compare solar photovoltaic with other energy sources.
→ Assess site for solar photovoltaic Installation.
→ Conduct test on solar photovoltaic systems.
→ Troubleshoot for faults in systems.

ASSESSMENT

The written examination comprises of multiple choice and short answer questions.
The programme consist of a series of continuous assessments throughout the training as documented in the portfolio. Participants would be given two tasks to complete at the end of the programme; whilst working in groups they will be individually assessed for competence
and questioned orally.
