COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Professional Certificate in Advanced Electrical Installation Programme at Giga Electrical and Engineering Services Assured by City and Guilds will enable participants to demonstrate
competencies in preparing material list and circuit directories, installing wiring systems, overcurrent protective devices, service entrance cable and constructing a variety of single and three phase AC circuits in compliance with the electrical codes and safety standards.

SKILLS

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will:

→ Interpret drawings, prepare material list and circuit directories.
→ Comply with electrical codes and safety standards.
→ Install series and parallel circuits.
→ Perform proper installation procedures for cables, conduit, trunking and supports.
→ Install one-way, two-way and intermediate switches.
→ Perform correct installation procedures for 115 volts and 230 volts receptacle outlets.
→ Install single phase and three phase meter base, load centre panel and point of entrance.
→ Apply knowledge of single phase and three phase motors and transformers.
→ Perform single phase, three phase and voltage drop calculations.
→ Test and troubleshoot electrical circuits.

ASSESSMENT

The written examination comprises of multiple choice and short answer questions.

documented in the portfolio. Participants would be given two tasks to complete at the end of the programme; whilst working in groups they will be individually assessed for competence and questioned orally.
