DESCRIPTION

The Professional Certificate in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Programme at Giga Electrical and Engineering Services Assured by City and Guilds will enable participants to demonstrate competencies in installing, maintaining and diagnosing faults on refrigeration and air-conditioning systems with due consideration to safety requirements.

SKILLS

Upon successful completion of this programme participants will:

Identify refrigeration and air-conditioning tools and materials
Perform task with due consideration to safety rules
Calculate cooling load for air-conditioning systems
Install condenser and evaporator
Install copper tubing for refrigerant
Apply soldering/brazing techniques
Vacuum, charge and pressure test systems
Conduct test on vapour compression refrigeration systems
Troubleshoot faulty equipment for defects

ASSESSMENT

The written examination comprises of multiple choice and short answer questions.

The programme consist of a series of continuous assessments throughout the training as documented in the portfolio. Participants would be given two tasks to complete at the end of the programme; whilst working in groups they will be individually assessed for competence and questioned orally.
